Two Transported After Serious Crash In Middletown, One By Air

On Friday afternoon, just after 3:00, rescue crews were dispatched to the 600 block of Lorewood Grove Road in Middletown in response to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving entrapment.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two individuals trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries and immediately began extrication efforts. By approximately 3:30, Command reported that the first patient, the driver, had been successfully freed from the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, at 3:38, the passenger was also extricated.

As the rescue teams worked to free the occupants, Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 landed nearby. Trooper 4 transported a woman in her 30s to Christiana Hospital with undetermined injuries. The second patient was also taken to Christiana Hospital by ambulance with undisclosed injuries.

The rescue operation involved crews from New Castle County Paramedics, Kent County Paramedics, and fire companies from Odessa and Delaware City.
