Delaware State Police have arrested 35-year-old Dennis Swain of Dover, Delaware, for a shooting incident that occurred in Dover.
Officials said on July 27, 2024, at approximately 7:23 a.m., troopers responded to North Bay Drive in Dover following a report of a shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed that two construction workers were driving on Kitts Hummock Road when they stopped to assist a man they believed needed help.
While the workers were talking with the man, later identified as Dennis Swain, an argument ensued, and Swain threatened to retrieve a gun. The workers left and drove to a construction site on North Bay Drive, where they saw Swain approach them while yelling and brandishing a firearm, and then he shot at them according to police. The victims were not injured.
Swain was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with two counts of Reckless Endangering (Felony) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony). He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $25,000 cash bond.
