Smyrna Officer Reportedly Injured Early Saturday Morning

File

Kent County authorities are investigating an early Saturday morning accident that reportedly sent a Smyrna Police officer to the hospital.

Just after 2:00 a.m., rescue crews responded to the intersection of South Carter Road and South Dupont Boulevard in Smyrna following reports of a motor vehicle crash. Initial reports indicate that a Smyrna police officer’s vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Details regarding the accident have not yet been released by officials. However, early reports suggest that the officer and a woman involved in the crash were both transported to a nearby hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
