Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last night in Middletown.

Officials said on February 15, 2025, at approximately 8:09 p.m., a Toyota Prius was traveling northbound in the left lane of Dupont Parkway (US-13) southbound, just north of Marl Pit Road. At the same time, a Ford Mustang was traveling southbound in the left lane of the same roadway. The two vehicles collided nearly head-on, with their front left sides making impact.

The driver of the Toyota Prius, a 58-year-old man from Bear, was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified. A 24-year-old woman from Smyrna, who was a passenger in the Ford Mustang, was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Officials did not mention the driver of the mustang in their release.

The roadway was closed for approximately five hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
