Armed Robbery At Family Dollar Under Investigation

Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday afternoon at a Family Dollar store located in Wilmington.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on May 17, 2025, troopers were dispatched to the Family Dollar at 1311 East Newport Gap Pike following a report of a robbery. According to the initial investigation, a male suspect entered the store, selected merchandise, and approached the front counter. He then displayed a handgun and demanded money from an employee.

The employee did not comply with the suspect’s demands. The suspect subsequently fled the store with the merchandise and was last seen leaving the area in a silver SUV. No injuries were reported, and no shots were fired during the incident.

As of now, surveillance video and images related to the case have not been released.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is continuing to investigate. Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Detective J. Dempsey at (302) 365-8472. Tips can also be submitted through Delaware Crime Stoppers.
