Delaware Man Facing Fifth DUI Charge

Delaware State Police have arrested 63-year-old Edward Soja of Magnolia for a 5th offense felony DUI and related traffic offenses.

Officials said on May 10, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of Peachtree Run and Walnut Shade Road saw a white male driving a maroon Chevrolet Impala while not wearing a seatbelt. The trooper pulled the car over and spoke to the driver, identified as Edward Soja, and detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath police said. In the ensuing investigation, Soja refused to take Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was taken into custody without incident. Soja was taken to Troop 3, where additional DUI tests were conducted.  A computer check showed that Soja had four prior DUI-related convictions and a suspended/revoked driver’s license according to police.

Soja was charged with fifth Offense DUI (Felony), Driving while Suspended or Revoked, Not Wearing a Seatbelt, and Multiple Traffic Violations arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,255 secured bond.
