Police Chase In Newark Ends In Fiery Crash Early Tuesday

(Newark, DE) — Early Tuesday morning, the New Castle County Division of Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop that resulted in a vehicle pursuit ending in a fiery crash. At approximately 1:18 a.m., officers initiated a stop on a vehicle.

Shortly after fleeing, the vehicle crashed in the area of Old Baltimore Pike and Otts Chapel Road in Newark and subsequently caught fire. The driver fled from on foot after the crash.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze, while police secured the area and began searching for the driver.

At this time, it is unclear whether the individual was located or remains at large. Authorities have not released details regarding the incident.
