On Saturday, at approximately 4:35 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Kennett Pike and Stone Brook Drive in Greenville following reports of a motor vehicle collision involving entrapment.
Upon arrival crews reported two vehicles involved and Confirmed entrapment. Responding units included New Castle County Paramedics, Cranston Heights Fire Company, Five Points Fire Company, Belvedere Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation.
During the incident Command requested an additional medic unit and a total of four ambulances. The crash resulted in four individuals being transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.
An approximately 80-year-old male sustained serious extremity and possible internal injuries. He was transported by a Belvedere Fire Company ambulance with New Castle County Paramedics on board.
An approximately 20-year-old male suffered serious abdominal and potential internal injuries. He was transported by a Five Points Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics.
An approximately 21-year-old female incurred serious extremity, chest, and possible internal injuries. She was transported by a Cranston Heights Fire Company ambulance with New Castle County Paramedics.
After she was freed from the vehicle, an approximately 77-year-old female was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics and airlifted to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police Aviation. She sustained critical injuries, sustaining head, extremity, and possible internal injuries.
The Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision.
