Knife Wielding Man Fatally Shot By Troopers

MILTON, DE — A man was shot and killed by Delaware State Police troopers Thursday in Sussex County after authorities say he approached officers with a knife during a traffic stop.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident began when a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle operated by a suspected impaired driver. The driver did not stop immediately and instead pulled into a driveway on the 28000 block of West Springside Drive in Milton.

Police say the driver, armed with a knife, advanced toward troopers. In response, two troopers fired their weapons, striking the individual.

Troopers provided medical aid at the scene, but the suspect was pronounced deceased. No details have been released.
