Man Charged With Opening Fire At Crash Scene

Wilmington Police have arrested a 39-year-old Claymont man in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred last week.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the 300 block of North Market Street after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police contacted Lamar Gregory, who was taken into custody without incident. Officers also recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the arrest police said.

Officials said Gregory had been involved in a motor vehicle collision prior to the shooting. Following the crash, he discharged a firearm at the other vehicle involved police said. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Gregory was charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Aggravated Menacing, and First Degree Reckless Endangering. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $47,000 cash-only bail.
