Man Killed While Target Shooting Identified

Delaware State Police are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Magnolia, leaving one man dead.

Officials said on May 20, 2025, at approximately 8:07 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a field on Walnut Shade Road near Autumn Moon Road in Magnolia following a report of an accidental shooting. Upon arrival, troopers located 21-year-old Kendrick Mason, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Emergency responders initiated life-saving efforts at the scene before transporting the Mason by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation determined that the victim along with three other individuals were target shooting in the field when he was struck by a single round. Details regarding the exact sequence of events that led to the discharge of the firearm were not released by police.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing to lead the investigation.
