The Dover Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Dover man. The investigation began at 10:54 p.m. when Dover Police received a call that a car had struck a utility pole/transformer in the 600 block of North DuPont Highway. Officers responded and located a 2003 Toyota Camry that had struck the pole and had caught fire. Dover Fire Department responded and was able to extinguish the fire and eventually extricate the victim. Sadly, the victim died as a result of his injuries sustained during this collision.
The ensuing investigation revealed the Camry was driving southbound on North DuPont Highway and for reasons currently unknown, left the roadway and struck the utility pole.
The victim was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notifications.
