Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Alejandro Rivera of Selbyville for multiple charges including felony assault and resisting arrest following an incident in Millville on Tuesday.
On May 14, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Delaware State Police and the Ocean View Police Department responded to Wells Fargo, located at 38011 Town Center Drive, for a report of a disorderly male suspect. Upon arrival, troopers and officers located the suspect, identified as Rivera, in the parking lot and attempted to take him into custody. Rivera physically resisted arrest, resulting in minor injuries to a trooper and two Ocean View Police Department officers. Pepper spray was ultimately utilized to subdue Rivera and place him under arrest.
An investigation showed that Rivera had caused a disturbance inside the bank by yelling and punching walls police said. Bank employees asked him to leave, and upon his initial departure, they locked the doors to prevent his return. Rivera, however, returned shortly afterward and forcibly entered the locked bank, prompting employees to hide in a secured room. Rivera attempted to gain access to the secured room but eventually fled to the parking lot.
Rivera was transported to an area hospital for treatment and, following his release, was taken to Delaware State Police Troop 4 for processing. He was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Injure Law Enforcement Officer (Felony); Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence that Injure or Struggles with Peace Officer Causing Injury (Felony); two counts of Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer; Reckless Endangering 2nd Degree; Criminal Mischief with damage valued at $1,000 but less than $5,000; Criminal Mischief under $1,000; Disorderly Conduct; and Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and subsequently committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $15,000 cash bond.
