Police Identify Man Killed In Double Shooting

Wilmington Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that claimed the life of one man and injured another.

The incident occurred on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at approximately 11:06 p.m., in the 800 block of West 7th Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and located 56-year-old James Saxe suffering from gunshot wounds.

Saxe was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. A second victim, a 19-year-old male, also sustained gunshot wounds and arrived at the hospital in stable condition.

Authorities have not released information regarding suspects or motive has been made public. The investigation remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective James Rook at (302) 576-3621.
