Three Injured In New Castle Crash Tuesday

On Tuesday, at approximately 12:23 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of South Dupont Highway and Red Lion Road in New Castle following reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics and fire department personnel discovered a crash involving a hatchback and a small SUV. Both drivers were found trapped in their vehicles. Firefighters extricated the occupants within approximately 15 minutes.

Three individuals sustained injuries in the crash and were transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

A 30-year-old female operating the hatchback sustained extremity injuries and possible internal trauma. She was transported in serious condition via Delaware State Police helicopter.

A 75-year-old female operating the small SUV suffered extremity and potential chest injuries. She was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

A 77-year-old male passenger in the SUV was transported in stable condition by a basic life support ambulance.

The Delaware State Police is conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Responding agencies included New Castle County EMS, local fire companies, and the Delaware State Police.
