Reports: Child Dead After Fatal Police Chase

Police are investigating a violent crash that occurred Tuesday morning and left multiple people injured, and a child dead.

The chase reportedly began when Wilmington Police pursued a vehicle occupied by a wanted man, a woman, and two children on I-95 northbound. Delaware State Police reportedly joined the pursuit before the vehicle exited at Marsh Road. The driver lost control near Edgemoor Road and Marsh Road, striking a utility pole and a fence at the Paladin Club before coming to a stop.

Emergency crews arrived shortly after 1:14 p.m. and found a chaotic scene. A child was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and was critically injured, with early dispatch reports indicating the possibility of a fatality.

A 33-year-old male was reportedly also ejected during the crash. He was transported with life-threatening injuries, according to initial reports.

A 32-year-old female passenger was also severely injured. A 10-year-old girl was reportedly and was transported to Nemours Children’s Hospital.

There are reports that the 4-month-old child who was ejected was transported immediately by a police officer to Nemours where the child later died.

The crash closed portions of Marsh Road and caused significant delays.
