Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday afternoon in Georgetown.

Officials said on September 15, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Dupont Boulevard (US 113), approaching the intersection at Redden Road. At the same time, a Mack Anthem truck pulling an empty grain trailer was stopped northbound on Dupont Boulevard at the intersection, intending to turn left onto Redden Road. A posted yield sign controls this crossover.

The Mack truck failed to yield the right of way and turned left through the crossover into the southbound lanes, according to police. As it did, the Nissan struck the right side of the trailer.

The driver of the Nissan, 49-year-old  Beckie Morales, of the Bronx, New York, was wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mack Anthem truck, a 76-year-old man from Cambridge, Maryland, was also wearing a seatbelt and not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the roadway.
