Man Pleads Guilty To Murder, Rape, Strangulation In Woman’s 2024 Death

A New Castle County man has pled guilty to murder, rape, and related charges in connection with the 2024 killing of a Wilmington woman.

According to the Delaware Attorney General’s Office, 27-year-old Kyle Batson entered the plea in Superior Court and now faces decades in prison when sentenced in January. The case stems from the death of 44-year-old Myeshia Triplett, who was attacked in an alleyway near the 700 block of Catawba Avenue in Wilmington in September 2024. Investigators determined that Triplett had been strangled.

Prosecutors said that after the assault, Batson stole a vehicle and fled to Howard County, Maryland, where he was later involved in a crash and taken into custody. He was extradited to Delaware in December 2024 to face charges including first-degree murder, first-degree rape, second-degree rape, strangulation, and abuse of a corpse.

The case began on the morning of September 12, 2024, when Wilmington Police officers discovered Triplett deceased in an alleyway off Catawba Street. An autopsy confirmed she was the victim of a fatal assault. Batson, who had been taken into custody in Maryland shortly after the incident, was later identified as the primary suspect through forensic evidence and extradited to Delaware.

Batson remains held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution as he awaits sentencing early next year.
