Milford Police Make Arrest In Monday’s School Bomb Threat

The Milford Police Department has released new details following a story first reported by First State Update on Monday morning.

Officials said that on November 3, 2025, the Milford School District received a bomb threat via email directed at Milford Central Academy.

Both Milford Central Academy and Milford High School were evacuated as a precaution while law enforcement secured the campuses and initiated safety protocols.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Timothy Maloney said multiple agencies assisted in the response. Explosive detection K9 units from across Delaware conducted thorough sweeps of both school buildings, while Milford detectives began investigating the source of the threatening message. At approximately 1:01 p.m., the K9 teams declared both schools safe, and the facilities were turned back over to the school district.

Through investigative work, Milford Police detectives were able to identify the email sender as a 13-year-old male from Seaford who is not a student of the Milford School District according to Maloney. An arrest warrant was issued for the juvenile on a single felony charge of Terroristic Threatening. Authorities said the identification was made within hours of the initial threat.

On November 4, 2025, the juvenile was brought to Milford Police Headquarters by a parent and charged accordingly. The suspect had a presentment through Kent County Family Court and was released to a parent on a $1,000 unsecured bond pending further proceedings. Police said the case remains under active investigation.

Chief Cecilia Ashe said in a statement that the department will not tolerate such threats, regardless of intent. “We will not tolerate these types of pranks and we will use every local, state, and federal resource available to find you,” Ashe stated. She also thanked UNITED Church and Milford Movies 9 for their cooperation during the incident, describing the effort as “community policing in practice.”

The Milford Police Department thanked the Delaware State Police, Delaware Capitol Police, and Newark Police Department for providing K9 support during the operation. Sgt. Maloney said the coordinated response and swift investigation demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement and community partners to ensuring the safety of students and staff.
