Beebe Healthcare unveiled its expanded mobile health fleet last week in Rehoboth Beach, marking a significant step in its ongoing effort to deliver healthcare services directly to communities across Sussex County.
Supported by more than $3.3 million in federal grants and additional philanthropic funding, the initiative is designed to improve access to care in one of Delaware’s most rural and underserved regions. The mobile fleet allows healthcare providers to reach residents where they are.
The new fleet includes a fully customized 28-foot Winnebago mobile clinic with an exam room, triage and phlebotomy station, and wound-care facilities; a 24-foot extended Sprinter van equipped for care in smaller, hard-to-access locations; and a 21-foot Sprinter van used to support staff and supplies during outreach events. These vehicles complement Beebe’s existing Community Mobile Health Clinic and expand the organization’s ability to serve areas where larger units cannot travel.
Since the program launched, the mobile health initiative has conducted hundreds of community engagements, delivered thousands of medical and nursing visits in non-traditional settings, and distributed naloxone kits with overdose prevention training. Services provided through the fleet include primary care, behavioral health support, harm reduction services, and comprehensive point-of-care testing.
Beebe leaders said the mobile model reflects a commitment to meeting residents where they are and addressing underlying health disparities through integrated, community-based care.
