Delaware State Police announced the arrest of a Dover man following a traffic stop that occurred late Friday night in the capital city.
Police said 42-year-old Donnel Eaddy of Dover was taken into custody on December 12, 2025, after a trooper on patrol observed a gray Chevrolet Malibu traveling northbound on U.S. Route 13 near Jerome Drive. According to authorities, the vehicle was seen swerving within the roadway, causing the trooper to initiate a traffic stop at approximately 9:50 p.m.
During the stop, troopers made contact with the driver, identified as Eaddy. Police reported that he displayed multiple signs of impairment, and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted. After the tests, Eaddy allegedly resisted arrest. Troopers stated that a Taser was deployed before he was ultimately taken into custody.
Following the arrest, an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted. Police said the search resulted in the discovery of a multi-caliber rifle, along with magazines and ammunition.
Eaddy was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 9, where he was charged with possession of a firearm or destructive weapon by a person previously convicted of a violent felony, driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, resisting arrest, and failure to remain in a single lane. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released after posting a $2,650 secured bond.
