Man Robbed, Carjacked At Gunpoint Wednesday

The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery and carjacking reported Wednesday night in Wilmington.

Authorities said troopers were called at approximately 8:30 p.m. on January 28, 2026, to a shopping center in the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. According to police, two male suspects armed with handguns approached a man who was seated inside a Toyota Corolla. The suspects ordered the victim out of the vehicle and forced him to lie on the ground. One of the suspects took cash from the victim before both suspects fled the scene in the victim’s car. Police said the victim was not injured.

Nearly an hour later, troopers located the stolen Toyota Corolla near the intersection of East 27th Street and Rosemont Avenue in Wilmington. Police said the vehicle was occupied by two men who ran from the area upon noticing a marked patrol vehicle, leaving the car behind.

The suspects were described as males with slim builds, believed to be between 16 and 20 years old, wearing dark-colored clothing and ski masks.
