Woman Facing Felony Charges After Jumping Into Rehoboth Bay

The Delaware State Police announced the arrest of 40-year-old Lindsey Moncavage of Georgetown following a pursuit in the Long Neck area on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, on January 26, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a member of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force observed a Ford F-150 nearly collide with another vehicle while traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway near Bay Farm Road. Police said the truck, driven by Moncavage, turned onto Bay Farm Road, and when the detective attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit began.

Authorities said the truck continued at a low rate of speed through several local roads. During the pursuit, a female passenger attempted to exit the vehicle but was unable to. The passanger later jumped from the truck while it was traveling on Sloan Road, sustaining a minor injury. The vehicle ultimately stopped in the Pinewater Farm community after striking a fence and a tree. Police said that the driver fled on foot and entered Rehoboth Bay, where a pursuing trooper entered the water, apprehended the driver, and brought her to safety.

A computer check revealed her driver’s license was revoked and that she was wanted on a violation of probation, according to authorities. Troopers also said they found drug paraphernalia during a search of the vehicle.

Moncavage was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and later released, after which she was taken to Troop 4. Police said she was charged with Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Collision, and multiple traffic offenses. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,504 secured bond.
