Newark Woman Charged With Stalking, Attempted Burglary

Police in Newark say a 31-year-old woman was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after officers responded to a reported burglary in progress on Winterthur Lane.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Winterthur Lane at approximately 3:53 p.m. on January 16, 2026, where they located and apprehended Dominque Johnson of Newark at the residence. Police allege Johnson attempted to gain entry to the home after banging on the door by throwing an outdoor statue through a window.

Police said the investigation determined the incident was allegedly connected to an ongoing stalking case involving the victims that originated in another jurisdiction, where Johnson reportedly exhibited similar behavior.

Johnson was charged, according to police, with attempted burglary in the first degree, two counts of stalking, and criminal mischief. She was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court #2, where police said $20,000 cash bail was set, and she was transported to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.
