JP Court To Relocate Operations Next Week

Justice of the Peace Court 20 will relocate its Wilmington operations later this month as part of a broader reorganization of court space in the city. Beginning Monday, February 16, 2026, the court will operate from the second floor of 824 North Market Street, a downtown building that also houses the United States Bankruptcy Court.

Justice of the Peace Court 20 has been based on the seventh floor of the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center. The move is intended to allow the Delaware Court of Chancery to expand within that facility to address continued growth in its corporate case docket. The final day of operations for Court 20 at the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center will be Friday, February 13, 2026.

Court Administrator Liz Petrick said the court recognizes that the relocation may be inconvenient for some individuals accustomed to the prior location, but expressed confidence that the new site near Rodney Square will provide convenient access for court users in downtown Wilmington.

At its new location, Justice of the Peace Court 20, which handles criminal matters, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
