Man Charged With Lewdness, Indecent Exposure

The New Castle County Division of Police has arrested a Bear man in connection with multiple incidents involving indecent exposure and lewd behavior.

According to police, on Friday, February 6, 2026, at approximately 4:25 p.m., officers responded to the area of Songsmith Drive and Carvel Lane after receiving reports of a male with his pants down exposing himself to passing motorists. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect’s clothing, and officers subsequently located an individual matching that description near a business on Quintilio Drive. While officers were speaking with the suspect, another victim reported that the same individual had exposed himself in front of a business in the 400 block of Governors Place. That portion of the investigation was handled by the Delaware State Police, officials said.

Police identified the suspect as 41-year-old John Warhop of Bear. He was taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged in connection with offenses investigated by both agencies. Warhop was charged with three counts of lewdness, three counts of indecent exposure in the second degree, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of public intoxication.

Warhop was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $1,010 cash bail.
