Delaware State Police have arrested 28-year-old Marcus McClain of New Castle in connection with an attempted robbery at the Dover Federal Credit Union branch on Pulaski Highway.
Authorities said troopers were dispatched at approximately 10:50 a.m. on February 21, 2026, to the Dover Federal Credit Union located at 499 Pulaski Highway after a bank alarm was activated. Employees reported that McClain entered the bank wearing a face mask and gloves and initially refused requests to remove them. He later removed the mask but kept the gloves on, approached a teller, and wrote a dollar amount on a piece of paper.
According to police, McClain did not provide identification or an account number when asked, prompting the teller to notify co-workers and activate the alarm. Troopers arrived while McClain was still inside the bank and took him into custody without incident.
During a search, troopers located a black pellet gun concealed in his waistband that resembled a Colt Python revolver. Investigators determined the pellet gun was not displayed or used during the incident. Detectives also confirmed that McClain was not a customer of the credit union and that no money was taken.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the investigation. McClain was transported to Troop 2 and charged with Attempted Robbery First Degree and Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, both felonies.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $65,000 cash bond.
