Wilmington police are investigating a series of commercial burglaries and attempted break-ins across the city’s west side.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to 11 separate business locations between April 5 and April 27 for reported burglaries or attempted burglaries. All of the incidents occurred in neighborhoods west of Interstate 95.
Police said multiple locations were targeted more than once, including businesses in the 1000 block of West 4th Street, where incidents spanned several hours, and the 1400 block of Lancaster Avenue, where two break-ins were reported days apart. Additional incidents were reported in the 300 and 1300 blocks of North Union Street, the 1800 blocks of Lancaster Avenue and West 3rd Street, the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, the 1600 block of Gilpin Avenue, and the 1700 block of Augustine Cutoff.
Attempted burglaries were also reported at locations in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street and the 400 block of North DuPont Street.
The cases have been assigned to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, where detectives are working to determine whether the incidents are connected and to gather evidence. Authorities have not released suspect information.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the incidents to contact investigators or submit tips anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers. Officials also continue to encourage residents and business owners to report suspicious activity promptly.
