Police Spot “Suspicious” Man, What They Found Next Led to Arrest

Wilmington Police have taken a 32-year-old man into custody following a daytime arrest that led to the recovery of a firearm and narcotics.

The arrest occurred on April 27 at approximately 1:42 p.m., when officers assigned to the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the 700 block of North Washington Street. Police reported observing a male subject acting suspiciously and made contact with the individual, who was identified as Rashad Walker.

According to authorities, Walker was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun along with five Percocet pills.

Walker has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, failure to comply with taking of photos and fingerprints, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $13,100 secured bail.
