Man In Critical Condition After Crashing Through Wall Friday

A man was critically injured Friday morning after a commercial vehicle left the roadway in the area of New Bridge Road and Walkers Mill Road, according to emergency officials.

Assistant Public Information Officer Jamielee Majewski said the incident was reported at approximately 8:18 a.m., and brought a response from crews from the New Castle County Paramedics, Talleyville Fire Company, Elsmere Fire Company, and New Castle County Special Operations Team.

Initial reports indicated that a large commercial vehicle off the roadway with a pedestrian struck.

Responding crews found a large commercial vehicle that had exited the roadway and driven through a stone parapet (wall). Officials said a person was struck by the trailer being towed by the commercial vehicle after he exited the vehicle.

A 27-year-old man was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics for internal injuries and injuries to his lower extremities. He was transported by a Talleyville Fire Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

Trooper 4 was also dispatached to the, however, ground medics recalled them helicopter.
