A fatal three-vehicle crash remains under investigation after occurring Friday morning on Old Furnace Road near Georgetown.
According to the Delaware State Police, the collision happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Old Furnace Road west of Rementer Road. A Toyota Sienna and a Nissan Rogue were traveling westbound in the opposite direction.
Investigators said the Chevrolet crossed the dashed centerline for reasons that have not yet been determined and sideswiped the Toyota. After the initial impact, the Chevrolet continued eastbound and collided head-on with the Nissan.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 52-year-old man from Lincoln, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity pending notification of family members.
The driver of the Toyota, a 50-year-old Georgetown woman, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old Seaford man, suffered serious injuries and was flown to an area hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Section.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
