Father And Son Identified After In Harrington Murder-Suicide

Delaware State Police have identified the two men found dead early Wednesday morning near Harrington in what investigators are describing as a murder-suicide.

Troopers responded to the 200 block of Whiteleysburg Road at approximately 3:00 a.m. on August 26, 2026, after receiving a report of two unresponsive people in a ditch.

When troopers arrived, they found 62-year-old Richard Jobes of Harrington suffering from a gunshot wound. Police also found 36-year-old Richard Jobes II, also of Harrington, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
