A 36-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash near Delmar, according to Delaware State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. August 29 on Whitesville Road, west of Robin Hood Road. Police said a Kawasaki Ninja was traveling eastbound behind a Dodge Dakota and a Ford F-650 rollback truck, which were also traveling east.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle passed the Dakota in a no-passing zone and struck the driver’s side of the rollback truck as the truck was making a left turn into a private driveway police said. The woman operating the motorcycle and the 11-year-old passenger were both ejected.

The 36-year-old Delmar woman was transported to an area hospital, where she later died. The 11-year-old girl, also from Delmar, was pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are being withheld pending notification of their family.

The driver of the rollback truck, a 19-year-old Laurel man, was not injured.

Whitesville Road was closed for approximately four hours while investigators examined the scene and the roadway was cleared. Delaware State Police continue to investigate the crash.
