7-11 Clerk Thwarts Would-Be Robber


New Castle- The Delaware State Police is currently investigating the attempted armed robbery of a New Castle area 7-11 convenience store which occurred early this morning, Director of Public Information Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the preliminary investigation has determined that the incident occurred at approximately 4:03 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017, as a male suspect dressed in dark clothing approached the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 284 Christiana Road, New Castle.

The clerk had previously secured the front door as she cleaned the store. The suspect walked around the outside of the store before attempting to gain entry at the front door. The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with his face partially covered. The suspect then implied he had a weapon, however no weapon was displayed. After the suspect was refused entry he fled the area toward the Georgetown Manor Apartments. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a black male approximately 5’08”-5’10” tall, with a stocky build between 180-200 pounds, wearing dark clothing.
