Dover – The Delaware State Police have arrested two Dover men after a pursuit led to the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.
Jaffe said the incident occurred on Monday, September 3, 2018, at approximately 3:12 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the Royal Farms located at 1512 Fast Landing Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle, a Hyundai Accent that was missing its bumper.
Upon arrival, Troopers observed the vehicle in the parking lot and a check of the license plate revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle proceeded to exit the parking lot, when a vehicle pursuit ensued, according to Jaffe. After striking a curb while traveling on Twin Oaks Road, the vehicle became disabled and the driver and passenger exited and fled on foot.
The passenger, identified as 22-year-old Zemondra Jackson was apprehended a short time later without incident. The Dover Police Department assisted with the search for the driver, identified as 22-year-old Deandre T. Bennett, was taken into custody after being located behind a shed at a residence on the corner of Mckee Road and Rose Bowl Road, according to Jaffe.
Jackson and Bennett were transported back to Troop 9.
Deandre T. Bennett was charged with the following:
Receiving Stolen Property (Felony)
Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
Resisting Arrest
Reckless Driving
Driving Without a Valid License
Bennett was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $3,650.00 secured bond.
Zemondra Jackson was charged with the following:
Receiving Stolen Property (Felony)
Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
Resisting Arrest
Jackson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $2,500.00 secured bond.
