Fire Marshals Release Some Details Regarding Massive Fire In Stanton, $500,000 In Damage

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s is currently investigating a building fire in Stanton, according to a statement released by the agency.

Officials said the Mill Creek Fire Company responded to the 700 block of Stanton Christiana Road shortly after 9:00 am for a report of a building fire. Upon arrival the Fire Department found heavy smoke and flames coming from a large commercial building. The incident quickly evolved to a two-alarm fire bringing several neighboring Fire companies to assist.

Deputy Fire Marshal’s were called to the scene and are currently investigating the origin and cause of the fire.

The fire caused approximately 500,000 dollars in damage to the building. One firefighter was injured during the blaze, his injuries and condition are unknown at this time. There were no civilian injuries.

Stanton – At 9:07 this morning Tuesday, January 15, 2019, firefighters from across New Castle County responded to 705 Stanton Christiana Road for reports of a structure fire.

While en route to the scene, crews were told that there may be someone inside the building.

Upon their arrival, crews reported heavy smoke showing from the roof. Crews quickly began an attack on the fire while simultaneously entering the building.

At 9:22, Command struck a 2nd Alarm and shortly thereafter ordered an evacuation of the building. Just minutes after the evacuation the building collapsed.

One firefighter was injured when they slipped on ice, according to reports.
