Just In: Car Flies Off I-95 Into A Tree In Newark, Shuts Down Highway

Newark – Just after 2:00 this afternoon rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company along with crews from Aetna HH & L, New Castle County Paramedics, Trooper 4 and Delaware State Police responded to I-95 SB between the service center and Route 896 for reports of an injury accident.

While en route crews learned that Troopers were on scene reporting that a car left the roadway and struck a tree.

Arriving crews removed the female patient from the vehicle on a backboard and carried her up the embankment to an awaiting ambulance. The woman was later transferred to Trooper 4 for a short flight to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hospital.

I-95 SB was closed while crews worked to free the patient and clear the scene.

New Castle County Paramedics Chief Lawrence Tan was on scene and assisted in the rescue.
