Maryland Fire Marshals have changed the cause of the fire that damaged a Cecil County Landfill transfer trailer.
Officials originally thought that a trespasser used firework to destroy the semi-trailer, however, after reviewing security camera video from the landfill officials now say they have been able to rule out any malicious intent causing the semi-trailer fire.

Elkton, Md. – Maryland arson investigators are investigating the destruction of a semi-trailer at the Cecil County Landfill.
Officials said that at around 7:15 on Friday evening, July 5, 2019, a passerby noticed that a 2018 55′ MAC aluminum transfer trailer was on fire and contacted 911.
Firefighters from the North East Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control after about 20 minutes.
Officials said an unknown person trespassed onto the landfill ‘s property and discharged illegal fireworks, igniting tires and combustibles within the semi-trailer.
The damage to the property was estimated to be approximately $60,000.00.
