Newark Police Release Name Of Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Train

On July 8, 2019, at about 7:39 Monday morning, Newark Police were dispatched to the CSX railroad tracks for a subject struck by a train. The victim was found deceased on the tracks behind the 100-block of Madison Drive.

Police have identified the victim as Steven Yamazaki, 28, of Newark. The Newark Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is attempting to determine why Yamazaki was on the tracks, officials said Tuesday.

Yamazaki was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science as part of the investigation. Officials said no criminal activity is suspected at this time and no further releases are anticipated.

Newark – Earlier this morning we reported that a pedestrian was struck on the CSX tracks near Casho Mill in Newark. Police have now confirmed that the person struck by the train has succumbed to their injuries.

“Newark police are currently on scene of a fatal train collision involving a pedestrian on the CSX tracks in the area between Casho Mill Road and Apple Road. There are currently no traffic obstructions due to the collision and more information will be released as it becomes available and pending notification of next of kin.”

Newark – At 7:43 this morning rescue crews from Aetna, Hose Hook, and Ladder along with New Castle County Paramedics and Newark Police responded to the train tracks between Casho Mill Road and the Apple Road overpass for reports of a pedestrian struck by a train.

Upon their arrival crews ordered the train tracks closed. Patient information is not available at this time.

The train tracks will remain closed while officers investigate the incident.
