Just In: Man In Critical Condition After Being Ejected During Rollover

Georgetown- The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash involving a single vehicle that occurred last evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on December 5, 2019, at approximately 10:52 p.m., when a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling eastbound on Asbury Road (CR 446), east of Davis Road (CR 523), approaching a moderate left curve. For unknown reasons, the operator failed to negotiate the curve, and the vehicle exited the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Cobalt overturned several times before coming to a final rest in an open field.

The operator, and sole occupant, a 28-year-old male from Laurel, was not properly restrained and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

The eastbound lane of Asbury Road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
