Wilmington Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that occurred this past Saturday, December 14.
On December 14 at approximately 8:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Harrison Street in reference to a shooting that had taken place. Police located a 14-year-old male gunshot victim who arrived at the hospital in stable condition and was treated and released.
The case was assigned to Detective Matthew Geiser of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Geiser determined that the shooting incident was the result of an accidental discharge, and he identified 20-year-old Isaiah Lecompte as a suspect, according to police.
Arrest warrants were secured, and Lecompte was taken into custody on December 18 with the assistance of the US Marshals Task Force.
Lecompte has been charged with the following offenses:
Assault (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
Lecompte was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,002 secured bail.
