Milton – At around 2:15 this afternoon firefighters from Milton, Lewes, and Slaughter Beach responded to 12508 Coastal Highway (Route 1) for reports that Snookies Speed Shop was on fire.
Crews arriving on scene reported a working structure fire and began their attack on the blaze. Multiple tankers from surrounding companies were requested by Command to supply water for the fire.
As a result of the fire, the south lanes of the highway have been closed.
Delaware State Police “Traffic Advisory-COASTAL HWY SB IN AREA OF DEEP BRANCH RD-MILTON IS SHUT DOWN DUE TO A BUILDING FIRE”
After about an hour and a half, crews were able to knock the bulk of the fire down and placed the fire under control at 3:47. Crews remain on scene and the roadway remains closed.
