Smyrna – Smyrna Police Department (SPD) has charged one person following a late night traffic stop that yielded a large seizure of phencyclidine (PCP), according to Smyrna Police.
Officials said that on January 29, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m. a SPD patrol officer observed a vehicle traveling on Rt 13 S/B, in the area of S Main Street, that had a suspended registration.
A traffic stop was performed where it was determined that the vehicle would be impounded due to registration, license, safety and insurance issues, according to police. As SPD officers continued their on scene investigation, a rear seat passenger, identified as Brahim Wright, 38 of Dover was found to be in possession of a glass jar containing a large amount of suspected phencyclidine (PCP), said police.
All 3 occupants of the vehicle were detained and their motor vehicle was impounded. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Wright possessed approximately two fluid ounces or 59.15 grams of PCP, according to authorities.
The driver of the vehicle was released with numerous traffic summonses. Mr. Wright was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance (PCP) in a tier 5 quantity (trafficking). He was arraigned via video court in JP #7 where he was given a $30,000 cash only bond.
Mr. Wright was then committed into the custody of the Department of Corrections in lieu of this bond pending a preliminary hearing in Kent County Superior Court.
