This morning the New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), Christiana Fire Company, and Minquas Fire Company of Newport were dispatched to Interstate 95 Northbound and Route 7 off-ramp for the report of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment, according to NCCEMS PIO S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.
Haas said fire and rescue crews arrived to find a pickup truck that had collided with the back of a tractor-trailer, heavily trapping the driver of the pickup. Personnel worked for over an hour to free the 49-year-old man, while he was being treated by the Paramedics for possible internal injuries and abrasions. The man was transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, in stable condition.
The Delaware State Police is investigating the incident.
Breaking Report
Just before 5:40 Monday morning rescue crews from several area fire companies, New Castle County Paramedics along with Delaware State Police were dispatched to I-95 NB in the area of Route 1 for a vehicle accident with entrapment.
Arriving crews reported that a vehicle had collided with a tractor-trailer and that the driver of the vehicle was heavily trapped. Command asked for heavy-lift tow trucks and special rescue teams during the incident.
Crews worked for over an hour to free the patient. The patient was transported to CER with undetermined injures.
I-95 NB is currently down to one lane.
