The Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Brandon Marshall of Dover, Delaware yesterday afternoon after he was found to be in possession of a stolen gun during a traffic stop according to police.
Officials said on January 27, 2023, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the Rodney Village area of Dover observed a white 2017 Ford Fusion stopped in traffic on POW MIA Parkway waiting to turn right onto southbound South Dupont Highway.
The trooper noticed that the Fusion had very dark window tinting on its front and rear windows, but the car did not have a valid tint waiver on file with DMV. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the Fusion on South Dupont Highway and contacted the driver and only occupant, identified as Brandon Marshall. The trooper saw drug paraphernalia in plain view and smelled the odor of marijuana according to police. The trooper also learned that Marshall had a suspended driver’s license. A probable cause search of the car led to the discovery of a loaded handgun that was concealed under the driver’s seat said officials. A computer check showed that the gun had been reported stolen by the Colorado Springs Police Department in Colorado in January 2022.
Marshall was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm (Felony), Receiving a Stolen Firearm (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Numerous traffic offenses.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $13,250 unsecured bond.
