Just before 4:00 Thursday morning, rescue crews were alerted to a motor vehicle crash along Route 1 NB in the area of the Kirkwood Saint Georges overpass in New Castle.
Crews learned that one person was trapped in a vehicle as a result of the crash.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that one patient died after their vehicle struck a construction vehicle on Route 1.
The crash has caused major delays in the Thursday morning commute. Motorists are being pushed onto alternate routes which is causing major delays on those roadways as well.
