The Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Cinque Oliver of Atlantic City, New Jersey for a carjacking that occurred Friday morning in Dover. The second suspect has yet to be found or identified.
Officials said on June 2, 2023, at approximately 5:21 a.m., troopers responded to the Walmart located at 36 Jerome Drive for a report of a carjacking that had just occurred. Troopers met with a 29-year-old Walmart employee and learned that two unknown black males had approached her while she was at her vehicle in the parking lot. One of the suspects said that he had a gun and told the victim to give him the keys to her car according to police. The victim complied and the suspect took the car and fled from the parking lot. The victim was not injured.
Troopers saw the victim’s car traveling northbound on Dupont Parkway near the Smyrna Rest Area. Troopers began pursuing the car until the driver lost control and crashed south of Summit Bridge Road. The driver fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later with the assistance of the Smyrna Police Department police said. No injuries were reported in the crash.
The driver, identified as Cinque Oliver, was taken to Troop 3 and charged with the following crimes:
- Robbery First Degree (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Numerous traffic offenses
Oliver was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,105,000 cash bond. The second suspect has yet to be identified.
