Reports: Patient Trapped Under Tractor In Newark Saturday

Emergency crews have responded to reports of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Route 896 and Old Baltimore Pike in Newark.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders reported that a person was trapped under a tractor at the scene.

The incident, which occurred at around 12:15 Saturday afternoon, prompted a response of rescue personnel from Atena Hose, Hook, and Ladder, along with New Castle County Paramedics. Delaware State Police and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 were also dispatched to the scene.

Initially, Trooper 4 was directed to stage at Glasgow High School, in the event that air transport would be needed. However, subsequent developments led to the recall of the helicopter, indicating that the individual involved in the incident would be transported by ground instead.

Details of the incident and the extent of the injuries sustained by the pedestrian remain unclear.

As a result of the emergency response, Old Baltimore Pike WB had lane restrictions while crews worked to free the patient. All lanes were reopened just before 1:00.
