Police Identify Man Fatally Wounded Early Monday

The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday.

Officials said the incident took place at approximately 6:32 a.m. in the vicinity of 24th and North Pine Streets, where reports of gunfire in the area brought a response from local law enforcement.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered the lifeless body of 28-year-old Zaahir Thorton, of Philadelphia who had been shot.

At this stage, specific details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting have not been disclosed, as the investigation is still ongoing.
