Latest: Shots Fired Leads To Search, Overnight Road Closure In Greenwood

On Tuesday night, around 10:30, Hickman Road (RT. 16) west of Greenwood was the scene of a police operation that led to the road being closed overnight.

The stretch of road between Nine Foot Road and Todd’s Chapel Road was shut down following an incident near LoLo’s Mini Market. Sources tell First State Update that a white male subject fled into the woods adjacent to the market after shots were fired.

While police searched for the man they took precautionary steps to protect the community. This included evacuating several homes in the area. They also set up a perimeter and requested Delaware State Police Aviation to assist in the operation.

Hickman Road was reopened Wednesday morning, however, It’s unclear if the subject had been apprehended. It’s also unclear who was responsible for the shots being fired or whether there were any injuries.

A reader tells FSU that a vehicle that was towed from the scene had a bullet hole in its window.

This is a developing story.
